JULY NEWSLETTER '24

It's been another busy month kickstarted with a girly weekend away in the Cotswolds, exploring pubs, drinking wine and feasting. Back in London and we finally ticked Caravel off our list; any true fans will know we added this to our ‘where we’ve got our eye on’ back in November last year and it was absolutely worth the wait - head to our Instagram to see our top picks at this romantic floating restaurant. Skipping to the end of the month and one of us (Caitlin) had swapped wholesome country strolls with two stepping at Glasto whilst the other (Jemima) headed to the city to try an exciting new steak opening...

Where we've eaten

Walking into what we assumed would be the next city boy steakhouse, we were surprised with the romantic, laid back vibe this new kid on the block brought. Cream linen tablecloths are accessorised with skinny flickering candles against a backdrop of the open fire kitchen and well-stocked bar. Downstairs, behind a glass door you’ll find the extensive wine cellar and smoking room where all meats are cured on site.

Headed by ex-head chef at Chiltern Firehouse, the starters are fun and light. We went for carabiner tartare and the croque Ibai, in simple a posh prawn and cheese toastie and for mains we stuck true to the city location ordering the impressive Norfolk wagyu with beef fat fries and a fun anchovy & chilli salsa for full surf & turf vibe.

Save for your next special occasion or swing by for a pint and side of bigorre ham & (impressively) homemade crisps post-day job.

Where we've stayed

From the duo behind our favourite London pub The Pelican, The Bull is a beautifully designed country pub with rooms located in the chocolate box town of Charlbury, also known as Notting-Hill-on-the-Wolds and is only an hour from London via train. The design is paired back with low ceilings and exposed wooden beams keeping true to the building's heritage and just like its sister pub, a roaring fire welcomed us in. Outside is an impressive pub garden with dining tables covered with creeping vine pergolas, the perfect sun trap over summer whilst the restaurant indoors is made up of dark intimate booths and low hanging lights.

The 10 bedrooms are individually designed but each featuring roll top baths (fully stocked with Wildsmith products), slouchy armchairs and four poster beds, @thebull please tell us where your bedding is from!!

Where we've got our eye on

From the team behind Plimsoll, North London has a new opening bringing a slice of Spain to Finsbury Park with a regularly changing seafood menu and authentic interiors. Seeing as we’re too slow for The Plimsol we are hoping we have a fresh start with this new hottest tapas spot!
